Citi appoints Scott Southall as head of global transaction services for ANZ
Citi has appointed Scott Southall to the role of Head of Global Transaction Services (GTS) for Australia and New Zealand. He replaces Derek Syme who was recently appointed to the role of Chief Country Officer for Citi in New Zealand.
Mr Southall joins Citi following his most recent post at Westpac where he was the General Manager Deposits, Cards and Merchants. In this role, he was responsible for product strategy, product development and portfolio management across the suite of Westpac companies. He was also one of six business leaders selected by Westpac’s CEO to define the bank’s long term strategy. Prior to this role, he was Head of Global Transaction Banking at Westpac Institutional Bank.
Mr Southall also spent 12 years with BearingPoint Inc (formerly KPMG Consulting) and PwC in Australia and the US.
Stephen Roberts, Chief Country Officer for Citi Australia and New Zealand said Scott’s appointment is significant given the importance of the GTS business to Citi in Australia and New Zealand.
“This business benefits from the growth in trade and related payments as well as the growth of the funds management business in Australia. It is one of the most exciting and dynamic businesses within the firm.
“Scott brings to the role considerable experience along with an impressive understanding of the operating environment. We are extremely pleased to welcome such a high-calibre business leader to Citi to work with one of the best teams at Citi.”
Australia was the fastest growing GTS business in Asia Pacific and the second fastest in the world in 2010. It has been awarded Best Foreign Bank in Australia by FinanceAsia for eight consecutive years.
GTS is one of Citi’s fastest growing businesses in Australia and around the world. It provides integrated cash management, trade and securities and fund services to multinational corporations, financial institutions and public sector organisations.
