Coldplay Wants More No. 1 hits in Australia
Despite winning several Grammy's, there's still one thing that Coldplay hasn't reached: a number one single in Australia.
Coldplay lead man Christ Martin said in an interview with Kathy McCabe that he's determined to get that elusive spot. Martin said that his wife, Hollywood actress Gwyneth Paltrow, even got ahead of him in terms of bragging rights regarding topping the Australian charts. Paltrow snagged a number 1 spot on the ARIA singles chart with her classic hit Cruisin', a soundtrack from the film Duets.
"It took 12 years to get up there but the reason we keep going is so we can get a number one single in Australia on day," Martin said. The frontman was referring to the band's recent hit Paradise, which reached the Number 3 spot. But that was after it was heavily promoted in promos and advertisements for the hit drama Revenge of Channel Seven.
"We'll do anything that lets us keep coming back to Australia to go on tour there. We're ready now but just need to lose a bit of weight and get our teeth in order," he added.
The British rock band is scheduled to fly to Australia this November for their Mylo Zyloto tour. After initial on-off plans, the concert will definitely push through, prompting rabid anticipation from fans.
The tickets for the said tour went on sale on May 25. The band will play in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane stadiums. A surprise second show in Sydney was added, scheduled on November 18 at Allianz Stadium.
The Mylo Zyloto tour will feature the "glowband" effect that became popular in previous concerts. People who will attend the November concert will receive an LED wristband. These LED bands are music-synched, which mean they will light up in tune with the band's music. Coldplay is currently promoting its new hit single "Princess of China".
