The Colorado shooting victims were killed while in anticipation of three hours of 'Dark Knight Rises.' Two of them shouted out on Twitter, not knowing they were tweeting for the last time. One of them was celebrating his birthday, the other managed to call 911. A six-year-old girl is also among those killed in the horrifying shooting spree.

Twitter has seen many a final tweet since it was created in 2006. Being a micro blogging site, Twitter has become an unconventional repository of its users thoughts and feelings. In times of tragedy, such as the Aurora theatre shooting on Friday, the world is reminded by the so-called final tweets that death really chooses no time and place.

Final tweets, final moments

Alex Sullivan was celebrating his 27th birthday and marking his first anniversary with his wife, Cassie. He went on Twitter to share his joy with his friends and the rest of the world.

"#TheDarkKnightRises @Reel-Nerds oh man one hour till the movie and its going to be the best BIRTHDAY ever," Sullivan tweets, unaware that a crazed gunman was within a radius of tens or hundreds of metres.

Jessica Ghawi was a 24-year-old aspiring sportscaster. She was in a banter tweeting exchange less than half an hour before the shooting begins.

"You aren't seeing ['Dark Knight Rises'] tonight?!" Ghawi tweets Sporting News hockey writer Jesse Spector. He says 'no.' She tweets back and jests he was being a loser. Spector jokes a loser is not supposed to be merely tweeting about the film. Ghawi replies with what was going to be her final tweet [all uppercase]: "movie doesn't start for 20 minutes."

Ghawi's brother, Jordan, told the media his friend Brent was accompanying his sister that fateul midnight.

"[Brent] told me he was inside the theatre... Shots were fired... My sister called 911, he attempted to call 911..."

Jordan then went to the heartbreaking details of his sister's final moments.

"My sister was struck by a round on the leg. He immediately, with his medical training, began to put pressure to that wound, to help stabilise her and she was screaming, and as he was on the ground, he took a round to the leg."

"He realised that my sister was no longer screaming. He looked over, and it appeared she had had a fatal shot direct to her head."

Veronica Moser-Sullivan, 6 years old, killed in Aurora theatre shooting

A happy 6-year-old girl is among 12 people who were killed in the tragic Colorado shooting. Her mother is seriously injured and could be paralyzed after suffering gunshots in the neck and stomach.

Veronica Moser-Sullivan, 6, was at theatre with her mother for a Batman mother-child bonding. She became the youngest victim in the inexplicable act of what must be a very troubled, very mad man.

"She was excited about life, as she should be. She's a six-year-old girl," Annie Dalton, Veronica's great-aunt described the little girl.
