Two former television stars stole the spotlight at the Cannes Film Festival.

Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff were unrecognisable on the red carpet because of the cosmetic surgery that both of them have seemingly undergone. The twins were the hosts of the popular '80s French sci-fi series Temps X.

With their new and shocking appearance, the British press likened them with Jocelyn Wildenstein, a cosmetic surgery junkee.

Stars filled the French Riviera for 24 hours. Johnny Depp, Michelle Williams and Juliette Binoche are just some of the Hollywood A-listers who arrived at the event.

German designer Karl Lagerfeld also attended the festival.

Blue Valentine, starring Williams and Ryan Gosling, as well as the French travel film Copie Confrome from Iranian director Abbas Kiarostami, were screened overnight at Cannes.

Meanwhile, French director Xavier Beauvois received rousing applause when the judges saw his Des Hommes et des Dieux (Of God and Men).

In a pre-screening press conference, Juliette Binoche wept when she spoke of Iranian director Jafar Panahi, who is believed to be on hunger strike.
