It has been confirmed that Aishwarya Rai Bachchan will attend the Cannes Festival this week as L'Oreal brand ambassador.

Aishwarya Rai rose to international fame when she won the Miss World title in 1994. She made waves after starring in the Hollywood film Bride and Prejudice, and her full stardom was celebrated in her home country India and around the world.

With the Cannes Festival coming up, the spotlight was on Rai as media anticipated how she would look like if and when she attends the grand film event.

The 38-year-old celebrity mom has openly said that she did not want to worry about losing weight since giving birth in November, adding she wanted to just enjoy motherhood.

Videos on Rai's transformation from svelte to 'double chin' figure have gone viral, and newspapers carried headlines saying Rai is being slammed in India for not getting back in slender shape soon enough. These reports sparked speculation that Rai might skip the prestigious Cannes Festival.

However, Snehhal Chitneni, Corporate Communications Manager of L'Oreal, confirmed Rai will walk the Cannes red carpet for two days.

"Yes, Aishwarya is slated to attend the festival and she has confirmed it too. In fact, this year the actor will have a bigger role to play as the brand ambassador," said Chitneni.

"This year, I am especially privileged as I also get to lend my support to a very important cause at the amfAR dinner, by helping raise funds for the fight against AIDS, at the AMFAR auction... It makes me proud that L'Oreal Paris sponsors and supports our fight against AIDS through this special amfAR event at Cannes." said Rai in an interview with IANS.

Rai married Abhishek Bachchan, son of India's beloved film star Amitabh Bachnan, in 2007. She will reportedly walk the Cannes red carpet for the tenth time, but this time with her daughter Beti B.
