'The Conjuring' and 'Insidious: Chapter 2' Director James Wan is Done With Horror Movies?
Director James Wan along with screenwriter Leigh Whannell have been successful once again in coming up with a blockbuster horror movie, the "Insidious: Chapter 2." However, the sad news circling around it now is that 'The Conjuring' and 'Insidious' director is done with making horror films, KPopstarz.com states.
When 'The Conjuring' became such a hit, the director went beyond just being known for being the director of 'Saw' but rather the brand new "king of fear." But even if his latest flick, 'Insidious: Chapter 2' took the number one spot at the box office list just after weeks of its release and reached an instant $41 million of ticket sales, the director is convinced to put a stop on the horror genre. It made history as the movie which had the best September movie premiere.
During Director Wan's interview with Moviefone, he mentioned that 'Conjuring' and 'Insidious 2' will be his two last horror movies. He gave hope to his fans that he might do another one only if the script will be extremely good. "I spent the last ten years of my life doing this. It's time for a change, for goodness sake!" he added.
When asked if he felt boxed in by Hollywood in the horror genre, the director said that it could apply to any movie genre. He emphasized how much he wanted to also give other genres a try when it comes to filmmaking.
On the other hand, Film Junk reports that Leigh Whannell has agreed to write the third sequel for 'Insidious' with Jason Blum producing it again along with Oren Peli of the 'Paranormal Activity.' As for the cast, there are still no news on whether any of them will return. If the safe bet that Director Wan won't return, then who do you think can direct the third 'Insidious' installment better?
