The Conjuring has been scaring moviegoers since it was first screened in the UK and Spain in June. On July 15, it had its red carpet premiere in Los Angeles completely attended by its stars, including Malaysian-Australian director James Wan, Patrick Wilson, Vera Farmiga, Lili Taylor and the real-life Lorraine Warren and Andrea Perron.

As it continues to open in other countries until October, The Conjuring has already secured a sequel due to its unexpected success. New Line Cinema confirmed that they have already asked Lorraine's "permission and support" for its second installment. Moreover, New Line is also planning to build a movie franchise from the Warren's paranormal investigation files.

The Warrens claim to have investigated over 10,000 cases and dozens of exorcisms, as posted in their official Web site www.Warrens.net. Lorraine and her husband, Ed, dealt with the supernatural since the 1950s. They put up the New England Society for Psychic Research in New England and The Warren's Occult Museum. When Ed died in 2006, Lorraine continues to assist in paranormal investigations and running their museum.

The couple became famous for their involvement in the Amityville Horror and supported owners George and Kathy Lutz's claims that their New York home was haunted by an evil presence.

Meanwhile, their investigation about the Perron family's demonic possessions and disturbing events at their farmhouse in Rhode Island in the 1970s is the basis for The Conjuring.

If New Line's plans to make a movie franchise of the Warren files officially happens, here are four paranormal cases that can be potentially adapted into film:

1. Smurl Haunting Case

The Smurl haunting cause was about the couple Jack and Janet Smurl who claimed that their Pennsylvania home was inhabited by a demon. Jack reported that he was sexually assaulted by the demon who mounted and rode on top of him. According to the Warren's the demon was very powerful and there were actually four demons in their home.

2. Arne Johnson Case

The Arne Johnson case also known as The Demon Murder Trial was about Brookfield, Connecticut resident Johnson who was convicted of killing his landlord Alan Bono. His lawyer defended him and claimed that he was innocent of the murder because he was possessed by a devil. It was Lorraine who told police that Johnson was possessed.

3. Werewolf Demonic Possession Case

Another demonic possession that the Warrens claimed happened was about the "werewolf demon" in 1983. They wrote a book in 1991 titled Werewolf: A True Story of Demonic Possession. A quiet family man named William Ramsey was possessed by the spirit of a werewolf. No photos or any other evidence is available to support their claims.

4. Annabelle Case

Annabelle was the name of the cursed antique doll that was bought as a present by Donna's mother in 1970. Donna was already in college and brought the doll to her dorm and slept beside her. A few days later, Donna and her roommate noticed something creepy and strange about the doll. They claimed that the doll moved by itself. The Warrens claim that the doll was possessed by a demon. They were able to exorcise the evil spirit out of the doll, and it now resides in a glass case in their museum.
