Some may consider him to be a con-man or a lunatic, but John has to fight demons in the premiere episode of "Constantine." The TV show is based on a popular comic book character from DC Comics. The first episode tells the story of how the character gets back to demon hunting after giving up his fight for some time. [Warning: Spoiler Alert!]

The first episode of "Constantine" will show John in a mental asylum. He is trying to forget his past as a demon hunter and wants the doctor to convince him that demons don't exist. His soul has been damned to go to hell upon his death because he caused the soul of a girl to be damned to hell. Guilt-ridden and seeking an opportunity to redeem his place in heaven, John begins to hunt demons again.

Is John driven by the intention to help people from the demons escaping from hell? Or is he only worried about saving his own soul? That is the central question that will ultimately decide whether or not he goes to heaven.

The first episode of "Constantine" will give John that opportunity when he tries to save a possessed girl in the mental asylum he has been admitted to. He will later team up with Zed Martin, who has a gift of visions. John shows her the world of the spirits who share the earth with the living. The only catch is that now that she can see spirits, they can see her as well.

The show also has a bit of humour, mostly by the protagonist John, and focuses on his most unique line of work. His business card says that he is a "master of the dark arts"; these words immediately catch the attention of people he meets. He later decides to have new business cards made to avoid embarrassing situations.

The cast of "Constantine" includes Matt Ryan as the protagonist John, Angelica Celaya as Zed Martin, Charles Halford as Chas, Harold Perrineau as Manny, Michael James Shaw as Papa Midnite, David A. Gregory as Eddie and Emmett J Scanlan as Jim Corrigan.
