The Canadian actor got his role as Finn Hudson in the Fox TV hot series Glee through an audition tape he sent showing him singing in the shower REO Speedwagon's I Can't Fight This Feeling Anymore.

That Shower Scene Singing Audition has so far 4.8 million hits, but it is expected to further increase as news of his death stunned the world

The audition tape was used in the first episode eventually of the hit series. It was actually the second audition tape because Cory's agent, Elena Kirschner, initially submitted a video of him drumming with some pencils and Tupperware containers, but series creator asked for a second audition tape since the show would require him to sing and dance.

Born on May 11, 1982 in Calgary, Alberta, Cory was the son of a military man, Joe Monteith, who served in the Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, which is like reel life imitating real life since his Glee character has a father who was a military man.

He started his acting career in minor roles in Final Destination 3, Whisper and Deck the Halls and had a recurring role in Kyle XY. His other films include Killer Bash, Bloody Mary, Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep, Hybrid and the short film Gone.

Catch a glimpse of his guest appearance in the TV series Supernatural, where he is eaten, in the video below.

Among his early film credits include the romantic comedy Monte Carlo, which starred Selena Gomez.

One scene from that movie which fans did not see because it was deleted was Cory playing football with kids.

Cory's other skills were tested when he hosted the 23rd GLAAD Media Awards in New York City with Glee co-star Naya Rivera, who plays the lesbian character Santana Lopez.

Of course, he will best be remembered for his role in Glee where he is always the lead singer in big production numbers such as a fan's compilation of the top 20 Finn Hudson songs.

The police had ruled out foul play in his death, but an autopsy is scheduled for July 15.

His publicist said, "We are saddened to confirm that the reports on Cory Monteith are accurate. We are in shock and mourning this tragic loss.
