The death of Cory Montieth is not only a tragic one but an unfortunate event for the 'Glee' series. However, there have been a lot of actors who have died during the run of their shows.
Larry Hagman died on November 23, 2012. He was working on the series 'Dallas.' He had been fighting cancer for a year and already filmed 6 of the 15 episodes for Season of the show. As a result, the producers let his character die from gunshot wounds.
John Ritter died on September 11, 2003. He was working on the series '8 Simple Rules for Dating My Teenage Daughter.' A tear in the wall of his aorta resulted in his death. He played the role of Paul Hennessy.
Phil Hartman died on May 28, 1988. He was working on 'NewsRadio.' He was shot to death in his home, in California, by his wife Brynn who also shot herself. He died before Season 5 began filming which is the same case as Cory's death. The season opened with colleagues returning from the funeral of the character who had died of a heart attack.
Redd Foxx died on October 11, 1991. He was working on 'The Royal Family.' Foxx had a heart attack on the set and had seven episodes to go in the season.
