Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin is giving marriage another shot. The actor popped the question over the weekend to his 28-year-old yoga instructor girlfriend, Hilaria Thomas. They began dating last year. His publicist Matthew Hiltzik made the engagement announcement on a message via "Twitter."

"Yes, it's true! Alec proposed to Hilaria this weekend and we're all excited for the newly engaged couple," Hiltzik said in a statement. Baldwin, who once starred in a film called "The Marrying Man," celebrates his birthday and an engagement as well. "It is a great way to celebrate!" Hiltzik happily exclaimed. Baldwin was previously married to actress Kim Basinger from 1993 to 2002.

Baldwin and Basinger have a 16-year-old daughter named Ireland, who Baldwin famously called "a rude, thoughtless little pig" in a leaked voicemail message during a nasty custody battle in 2007. He even published a book in 2008 called "A Promise to Ourselves" about his personal experience dealing with divorce and his battle with Basinger over the custody of their daughter.

Meanwhile, the teenager cheered on her dad and his fiancée by sending out a message via her "Twitter" account. "Congratulations to @AlecBaldwin and @hilariathomas on getting engaged! Love you guys," Ireland has shared. "I'm going to be a flower girl," she added.

The "30 Rock" star began dating Thomas, an instructor at New York's Yoga Vida studio, in the spring of 2011. Baldwin, 54, has credited his yoga girlfriend with helping him adopt a healthier lifestyle. It will be the first marriage for Thomas, a native of Spain who spent much of her childhood in Boston.
