The Ian Somerhalder and Nina Dobrev split rumors still continue to spread like wildfire since the couple has not been spending time together in public for quite some time now.

What further increases the worry of the fans is the "Twitter" messages that Ian and Nina posts indicating that they have also been living separately online plus the alleged reason behind the on-going split rumors.

"Hanging w/ @bsome and Built of Barnwood for our 1 year Anniversary in Bay St. Louis, MS," the 34-year-old actor wrote today on his Twitter account @iansomerhalder. The Built of Barnwood is a business on old building materials that promotes what Ian Somerhalder campaigns for such as reclaiming, reusing and re-purposing of resources.

On the other hand, the "Vampire Diaries" actress recently wrote a message on her Twitter account @ninadobrev that reads: "Picture Quote of the day... It's YOUR Sunday, you don't have to spend time with anyone, who do you CHOOSE to spend y..." with an attached image of a quote that says "Surround yourself with things and people that inspire you."

Ian and Nina's time apart with no interaction as well on the "Twitter" world has convinced some fans that the couple already ended their 18-month-old relationship. Now, latest reports claim that the reason behind the couple's split is the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie casting of Ian Somerhalder as Christian Grey.

The actor has been very vocal on his yearning to be cast in the upcoming movie adaptation of the erotic novel and Nina was reportedly upset about it. However, there is still no confirmation yet on Ian Somerhalder being cast as Christian Grey for the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie and representatives of the couple has not given any comment as well to confirm or deny the reports on the current status of their romantic relationship.
