'Creed 2': Adonis fights the past in new trailer
A new trailer of “Creed 2” has been released online. Adonis (Michael B. Jordan) is back, and this time he will be facing the biggest fight of his life, a fight that has a connection to his past. He also has to balance his personal life and family, while training with Rocky Balboa (Sylvester Stallone).
Adonis will be fighting Viktor Drago (Florian Munteanu), the son of Ivan Drago (Dolph Lundgren) from “Rocky IV.” Readers should note that Ivan killed Adonis’ father Apollo (Carl Weathers) in the boxing ring in the previous movie, and now it is time to settle the score.
Rocky doesn’t want Adonis to take this fight, recalling just how his fight was with Ivan. Victor has been raised in an environment of hate, and according to the veteran boxer this Russian is dangerous.
While Adonis feels that he has no choice but fight, he is not alone. He has a family to think about, with a baby on its way. Rocky feels that the fight isn’t worth it, but his protégé has his mind made up.
With the back-story of Apollo, the upcoming film does feel a lot like a sequel to “Rocky IV,” which is arguably the best film from the franchise. It will be interesting to learn the relationship between Stallone’s character and his Russian counterpart.
There is another exciting training sequence to look forward to in the upcoming film. According to the official plot synopsis, Adonis will have to go back to the basics to rediscover what made him a champion in the first place. In the trailer, the boxer talks about learning more about himself after each round in the ring.
“Creed 2” has been directed by Steven Caple Jr, who is a newcomer to the franchise. Caple Jr. is known for directing the 2016 film “The Land.”
