Real Madrid superstar Cristiano Ronaldo opened his own museum on Sunday in his home town. The museum features the awards and trophies that Ronaldo has received all throughout his football career. The Real Madrid striker decided to put up a gallery so that he can pay tribute to his hometown, which is in Madeira.

Ronaldo's museum displays over of his 125 awards, including the Ballon d'Or award he received in 2008. He had obtained quite a number of achievements in 2008, aside from Ballon d'Or or formerly known as FIFA World Player of the Year. In 2008, he was awarded the FIFPro Player of the Year, World Soccer Player of the Year and the Onze d'Or. He also received the European Golden Shoe in 2008 as well as in 2011 too. These are just probably some of the awards and trophies displayed in his museum. The 28-year-old said that he wanted to share all the accomplishments and awards he has received to his fans.

The very first item on display was an award he received when he was only eight years old. As you can tell, the museum, like any gallery, is certainly filled with Ronaldo's rich and memorable football moments from across the years.

Ronaldo was extremely happy to finally open the museum to the public. "It's the opening of my museum and I am proud," he said. He also mentioned that he has room for more trophies. "All I want is to win more awards and, if the Ballon d'Or comes, there is extra room here," he added.

Ronaldo is one of the three top contenders for the Ballon d'Or Award, alongside long-time rival Lionel Messi and Bayern Munich winger Frank Ribery. There have been numerous reports claiming that Lionel Messi is way ahead of Ronaldo. Some reports even say that the results of the Ballon d'Or Award have already been leaked to a Spanish news agency, but the official announcement of the winner will be revealed on Jan 13, 2014 in Zurich.

Ronaldo isn't really frantic to win the coveted award. He is hoping to win, but he isn't really very much obsessed about it.
