'Crossfire' Casting: Author Sylvia Day Wants Henry Cavill as Gideon Cross, Scarlett Johansson as Eva Tramell [PHOTOS]
The "Crossfire" adult novels will be heading soon to the small screen after Lionsgate acquired the TV rights and one of the excited people about this project is none other than author Syliva Day. In a recent "Good Day Book Club" interview, Ms Day even divulged her top choices in portraying major characters Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell: Henry Cavill and Scarlett Johansson.
"Superman would make a great one. Henry Cavill, I think he's perfect," Syliva Day admitted. When asked if there are other actor choices that could portray the sexy but dark billionaire, the "Crossfire" author answered no.
Other casting reports suggest that "Vampire Diaries" star Ian Somerhalder and "White Collar" actor Matt Bomer are potential actors for the Gideon Cross role just like the fan-casting polls conducted with the other upcoming popular erotic novel film "Fifty Shades of Grey." The story similarity is often pointed out between the two novels since both books tell the story of a woman falling in-love with a handsome billionaire.
However, a comparison can be made as well because female lead character Eva Tramell survived a childhood sex abuse unlike "Fifty Shades of Grey" Anastasia Steele who is an innocent virgin. In the "Crossfire" series, Gideon Cross and Eva Tramell must face their dark pasts in order for their romantic relationship to work.
For the part of Eva Tramell, Sylvia Day revealed that she wants Scarlett Johansson to portray the character. The author even explained why the "Avengers" star is her top choice: "Eva is a really curvy girl. She's not a waif by any means and Johansson rocks those curves so I think she would be fabulous."
British actor Henry Cavill is currently one of the hottest and most sought after Hollywood actors and Gideon Cross, the other handsome and sexy billionaire, has a huge fan base as well. "Crossfire" fans often visualize the Man of Steel as the actor who could perfectly bring the Gideon Cross character to life on the small screen.
