SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA - - Award-winning Australian actor, Russell Crowe took to the red carpet with wife, Danielle Spencer at the Australian premiere of his latest film, The Next Three Days. The Australian Associated Press noted that Crowe was in chirpy mood as he ‘strutted his stuff’ in a designer suit and sunglasses.
Though known for his hostility towards journalists, Crowe appeared generous Sunday as he allowed the Sydney reporters for an extended ‘interview time’.
News.Com.Au said that Crowe’s latest film project has been receiving ‘unkind’ reviews from US critics, adding that it has ‘taken a beating’ at the box office. The Next Three Days has been released in the same week as the latest series of Harry Potter film, “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1”.
Crowe maintained however that he refused to be affected with how his films is received by Australian audience.
"Sometimes there's other things that come into play which make you anxious in certain territories, but this film is a really compelling movie and I'm sure everyone who sees it tonight's going to have a bit of fun with it,'' Crowe was quoted as saying by the AAP.
The actor of “A Beautiful Mind” plays a college professor, John Brennan in The Next Three Days The story centers on his move to break his imprisoned wife out of jail, following the rejection of her final appeal. Crowe (Brennan) decided that it was his last option as his wife became suicidal three years into her sentence, when charged with murder for a crime she insisted she didn’t commit.Elizabeth Banks plays Lara, Brennan’s wife.
"It's a funny thing that people scream at the screen because they end up yelling: 'Don't do it mate, you've just got no idea what your getting yourself into',” Crowe said, according to the News.Com.Au.
