CyanogenMod 11 ROM Based On Android 4.4 KitKat Hits Samsung Galaxy S4
Samsung is set to release the official Android 4.4 KitKat update for the Galaxy S4 smartphone in January 2014. If you don't want to wait until then, a CyanogenMod 11 ROM based on the latest Android version is now out for the handset.
The ROM is in Alpha at the moment so it is only suitable for those who want to help with finding and fixing the bugs. The bug list is currently long and remains understandable. Some annoying bugs include low mic volume, non-working screen auto-rotation and no video recording.
Some apps also experience storage problems, images are not displayed in the gallery, and no haptic feedback. The update still has a lot more bugs, which will certainly be fixed overtime.
The good news though is that users are saying that the ART runtime is flawlessly running and improves performance a little. Eager people who already want to get their hands on the unofficial CyanogenMod 11 alpha ROM and experience pure Android 4.4 KitKat on their Samsung Galaxy S4 (i9500) can now get it by following the "how to install" instructions below:
