The New York Daily News said the team has become the laughing stock because of its new uniform. After the team posted a photo in Twitter of the uniform worn by six team members, the post became viral and the uniform the talk of the town.
Fox News reports that Brian Cookson, president of the International Cycling Union, had stated that the unifoms are "unacceptable by any standard of decency."
It added that Angie Tatiana Rojas, a member of the team, made the provocative design and was even endorsed by two sponsors of the group, namely the District Institute for Recreation and Sport (IDRC) and the San Mateo and Solgar Foundation.
But the IDRC clarified in a tweet, "In regard to the uniforms of the women's cycling team, we clarify that we were not consulted on its design. We support the team in its trip."
The team will compete in the world championships in Ponferrada, Spain, and cycling fans, the fashion police and guardians of morality are waiting to see if the team will again wear the same uniform in the competition.
