Cycling Australia is pleased to confirm the 13 riders named in the Cyclones team to contest the third round of the 2012/13 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Series being staged in Mexico from 17 to 19 January 2013.

The impressive young Cyclones team is headlined by London Olympic team sprint bronze medallist Kaarle McCulloch and will feature a host of junior track world champions and World Cup debutants.

Joining McCulloch, 23, in the women's sprint events will be five-time junior track world champion Taylah Jennings, 18, (QLD) and 2013 Oceania keirin champion Stephanie Morton, 22, (SA) who will make their World Cup debuts.

For the men's sprint events, selectors have named reigning Australian sprint champion Alex Bird, 27, (ACT) and the New South Wales duo of Peter Lewis and Mitch Bullen.

Bullen, 21, will make his debut in the senior Cyclones, while Lewis, 22, will contest his second Cup of the Series after winning silver in the keirin at the second round of the Series in Glasgow last November.

Five track endurance men and two women have also been named, with all seven to make their World Cup debuts. They include 2013 Australian Madison champion George Tansley, 19, (SA) and reigning junior world champions Jack Cummings, 19, (VIC), Tirian McManus, 18, (NSW) and Georgia Baker, 18, (TAS), with Rebecca Wiasak, 28, (ACT) gaining selection after strong performances in 2012 both on the road and track. Trent Derecourt, 18, (WA) and Peter Loft, 21, (TAS) round out the selections.

The three round 2012/13 UCI Track Cycling World Cup Series kicked off in Cali, Colombia last October before heading to Glasgow, Scotland, in November.

Following the Mexico leg of the Series, the 2013 Subaru Cycling Australia Track Cycling Championships will be held at Sydney's Dunc Gray Velodrome from January 30 to February 2, with the 2013 UCI Track Cycling World Championships to follow in Minsk, Belarus, from February 20-24.
