A father from Basingstoke, United Kingdom is earning praises for dressing in a superhero costume to surprise his terminally ill son on his fifth birthday.The father played the role of Spidey using an American accent and used a GoPro camera to secretly film his son's reaction.

In the video, Wilson's wife, Lou, walks their daughter, Ella, and Jayden to their front door. When his wife asks them to take a few steps outside, Spider-Man suddenly appears and surprises the boy.Wearing a Spider-Man suit, Michael Wilson jumped off the roof of his home in the middle of his son Jayden's birthday party celebration.

The video of Wilson's superhero surprise for his son was taken in August and has since gone viral after it was uploaded on YouTube.

After the video went viral, commenters expressed their support for Wilson.

"Hats off to the father. May your love for your kid prevail," one commenter wrote.

Another commenter also wrote, "Good job dad, you are the real hero here."

In a statement released to ABC News, Wilson said, "We're both massive fans and I wanted to make his dream come true. Having Spider-Man at your birthday party is cool."

The father added that he saw "shock and happiness" in his five-year-old son's eyes when he dropped down as Spider-Man and adding that it was everything he hoped for.

In August 2013, doctors diagnosed Jayden with a grade 4 brain stem tumour and said he only had about one year to live.

Wilson said Jayden is still battling the illness. The family has set up a GoFundMe page for the cancer-stricken boy.
