Fresh from his win from the Golden Globes, 'Dallas Buyers Club' star Jared Leto is the first winner of the 20th Screen Actors Guild Award. Followed by Steve McQueen's '12 Years a Slave' star Lupita Nyong'o for the Best Supporting Actress category.

The two winners are now establishing themselves as an Oscar favorite thanks to their stellar performance on both movies. Kenyan actress Nyong'o triumphantly received the award as she recalls a celebratory phone call to her father when she got the part to win the prestigious award.

She recalls saying: 'Daddy, do you know who Brad Pitt is? I'm going to be in a movie with him! And he said, 'I don't know him personally, but I'm glad you got a job.''

'Being recognised by fellow actors is an honour of the highest order and I want to thank all of you so much,' says Nyong'o as she thanked her director. 'Thank you, thank you, thank you Steve McQueen. Thank you for taking a flashlight and shining it under the floorboard of this nation and reminding us what we stand on. You are love personified.'

Leto's stellar performance as transsexual Rayon in the Texas HIV drama earned him another award after years of staying away from the limelight. The actor dedicated his awards to all the 'Rayons of the world' and to all people who have died of the terrible disease.

He also thanked his mother, his hot date for the evening and called her 'the hottest date in town.' He also thanked her for showing him the power dreams as he received the award in front of his peers in the industry.

'Thank you to this wonderful tribe of dreamers. I'm so honoured by you today,' says Leto.
