‘Dancing With The Stars Australia’ Winner AFL’s David Rodan Reflects On His Journey In The Dance Competition
David Rodan has reflected on his journey in the reality dance competition "Dancing with the Stars Australia" in a recent interview. The retired Australian Football League, or AFL, star was recently crowned champion of "Dancing with the Stars Australia," beating Ricki-Lee Coulter and Lynne McGranger in the finale.
In a news article by Yahoo Australia News, Rodan talked about his experience in the reality dance show. According to Rodan, he was shocked to even make it to the top two, let alone, walk away as the winner of the show. Rodan didn't have that much confidence and said that he really thought he was going to be voted off and leave the show early in the competition.
The 31-year-old AFL star, who played for Richmond, Port Adelaide, and Melbourne football clubs, thought he had a tough competition with McGranger and Coulter. "Ricki-Lee and Lynne have a strong following and I know how popular they are," Rodan told AAA.
Rodan also expressed his gratitude to his dance partner Melanie Hooper. He said he was "lucky" to have Hooper. "She's put together all the routines and we've just had a ball."
Rodan was also thankful that his knee problems didn't get in the way with his participation on the show. However, he revealed that his knees felt sore too. Rodan reportedly had four knee reconstructions during his professional football career.
Regarding his plans after the show, Rodan said that he hopes to teach his wife Carla some dance skills. They may take lessons with Hooper or they may just work their dance moves in their own kitchen.
Rodan's impressive footwork at the finale had won not only the hearts of the judges but also the viewers and fans of the show. All three judges gave Rodan and Hooper a perfect score. McGranger and Coulter, on the other hand, did a jazz routine and paso doble dance number, but it wasn't enough for them to win the coveted trophy.
Final Scores in the Grand Finals
