Dancing With the Stars: Ewing's out
Bad news for Daniel Ewing fans, the Home and Away actor and partner Luda Kroiter got sacked in last night's episode of Dancing with the Stars despite an average rumba performance.
The Home and Away actor's elimination was a surprise to the judges and fans since he presented a well-played rumba set that garnered 19 points. Daniel and Luda's 19 points were 4 points higher than Brynne Edelsten and Arsen Kishishian's calamitous quickstep. Before the elimination, Daniel and Luda gave a smashing jive performance to the Monkees song You Have an Infectious Energy.
In a report posted in the show's official website, Daniel expresses his gratitude towards the whole experience. "I've had a blast", says the actor. Ewing's performance has raised enough money for his charity of choice St. Vincent De Paul Society, a catholic organization of volunteers active in 132 countries willing to help anyone in dire need. Ewing is famous for his roles in kids' movies like Power Rangers, Blue Water High, and for some of his theater acting - most notably as Judas in Jesus Christ Superstar.
Daniel Ewing is the first actor booted off after three straight eliminations of athletes who tried their luck with dancing shoes. Retired cricketer Nathan Bracken and his partner Masha Belash was the first pair to go, with a less than impressive samba that got the night's lowest score. The next athlete was professional golfer Jan Stephenson and her partner Mark Hodge, followed by surfer Mark Occhilupo and Jade Brand for a catastrophic waltz that only got them 16 points.
Next week's Dancing with the Stars on Channel 7 will feature the remaining eight couples battling it out once more, with a special performance from country superstar Carrie Underwood.
