Michael Sam and is pro partner Peta Murgatroyd will be doing the Salsa for “Dancing With The Stars” Week 3 Latin Night. The will groove to “Celebrate” by Pitbull. The pairs will dance to Samba, Rumba, Argentine Tango, Salsa, Paso Doble and Cha-Cha-Cha. Pitted to be the steamiest night of the season, there would be many a shirt that would be coming off on stage as the lights go out.
On the premier night, Sam and Murgatroyd did a Cha-Cha-Cha and scored 26 out of 40 points. But in Week 2, the duo got 28 for their foxtrot improving on their dance and scores. The footballer has been balancing his time between DWTS rehearsals and football training as he aspires to be in the NFL, according to Wetpaint. He recently told USA Today, “I’d rather be playing football. I’m unemployed right now, so "Dancing with the Stars” is my source of income.”
He said that his schedule is very busy. He told Star-Telegram in an interview that he doesn’t think that he is out of NFL because he is a gay. He added that if that was a reason, it would hurt the livelihood of many players. The football player made headlines last month when he told Sports Illustrated that there were many gay players in NFL.
Sam said all he wants to do is to become a football player and that he was not angling for a career in showbiz, which makes his priorities very clear. The show is not only giving him his income but is also helping him to stay fit outside his training, in the process. In week 2, the couple danced on “Workin’ My Way Back to You Babe” by The Spinners. But the first openly gay professional footballer managed to impress the judges with his ballroom dance. Julianne Hough compared his dance to a Broadway performance and Carrie Ann was happy with the amount of improvement since the first time he had danced. She said that she was truly impressed with his transformation from last week. The judge added that in the premier, Sam was so uncomfortable, but in Week 2 he was in the game. Tune in to ABC at 8 pm on Monday to watch the show.
