'Dancing With The Stars' updates: Season 23 winner Laurie Hernandez talks about life on tour for 'DWTS;' plans for the 2020 Olympics
Hernandez won the Mirror Ball Trophy on the latest season of "DWTS"
After taking home the much desired Mirror Ball Trophy, Laurie Hernandez’s short stint on “Dancing With the Stars” has come to an end. This journey had been a very significant one for her and, up to this day, she just could not get enough of her time on the show. Now that it is over and she has already emerged as winner, what could be next for her?
Right after taking home the Mirror Ball Trophy, Hernandez headed straight home to New Jersey to spend Thanksgiving with her family. On this, she reveals that “it was so important to have us all together. It was nice because they all came out for the finale, but I was really busy with the show.”
She also reveals that she felt great to have spent that amount of quality time at home since she rarely gets an opportunity to spend time with her family. So, even if her family time lasted for only a few days, those brief moments were cherished.
Hernandez reveals that she and her co-competitors have become “a big family the past couple of weeks, so this should be fun” when opening up about joining the “Dancing with the Stars” live tour. She also added that they already had their first rehearsal over the weekend. It also appears that she has continued to work hard and she feels very excited about what is to come.
She also reveals that she feels nice that she can now just be herself without having to compete simultaneously. She also admits that she still does not know how many numbers she will be performing during the tour but she revealed that she will be doing a couple of those that she did for the season.
On what number that is, she says that she might be doing her “Chicago” recreation, where she performed an Argentine Tango with professional partner Val Chmerkovskly, which was played against the musical’s “Cellblock Tango.” She adds that such number is probably one of her favourites, reports ET Online.
While this star apparently has a new career in dancing, that does not mean she has fully retired from gymnastics. She still has plans to compete again in the 2020 Olympics, writes People. However, before that happens, she needs a break -- which also means she has to take some time off from dancing.
