Daniel Radcliffe supports Emma Watson’s ‘HeForShe’ campaign
“Harry Potter” star Daniel Radcliffe is supporting “HeForShe” campaign -- the ongoing promotion of gender equality by his former co-actor Emma Watson.
Radcliffe said he notices that women are still not treated at par with men and added that Watson is doing the right thing to highlight the issue. The 26-year old actor talked about the issue in his latest cover for Nylon magazine.
“I think it’s fantastic that she’s bringing attention to it and adding to the conversation. I also find it bemusing, honestly, maybe because I have cool parents with a very equal marriage and have had good role models all my life, but I thought this was done,” he said.
Meanwhile, Radcliffe said that the issue about work distribution among men and women is properly observed on the sets of his new film “Swiss Army Man.” His statement on gender equality echoes the sentiments of other male and female Hollywood stars who have previously talked about unequal work payment.
Radcliffe’s film “Swiss Army Man” follows a hopeless man who is stranded in the wilderness and ends up befriending a dead man’s body to find his way home, Deadline reported. Radcliffe tagged the film as “super weird,” “intoxicating” and the “craziest thing I’ve ever done.” The actor stars in the film alongside Paul Dano and Mary Elizabeth Winstead.
“Swiss Army Man” started shooting in July and is already on its post-production stage. The film is yet to be given its release date.
Radcliffe has also been busy filming another three films -- “Imperium,” “Now You See Me 2” and “Young Americans” lately. He just finished shooting “Victor Frankenstein” where he stars as Igor, the brilliant assistant of radical scientist Victor Frankenstein.
“Victor Frankenstein” is scheduled for release on Nov. 25 in US and March 10, 2016 in Australia.
