Australian F1 star Daniel Ricciardo has kept his expectations for the 2016 Formula One (F1) season as Red Bull continues to struggle finding a power unit supplier for the improvement of the RB12. Ricciardo hopes to score more two podium wins in 2016.

The Austrian F1 outfit only scored three podium wins this season. Ricciardo claimed Red Bull’s second podium win after finishing third place behind teammate Daniil Kvyat at the Hungarian Grand Prix. The Perth native clinched Red Bull’s third podium at the Singapore Grand Prix, with Ricciardo finishing behind winning Ferrari driver Sebastian Vettel. As the team continues to face delays in finding a supplier next season, Ricciardo has kept his expectations at a minimum.

“I will know a bit more when we know what is going to be in the back of the car,” Ricciardo said in an interview as quoted by Motor Sport. “Right now, where we stand, it is hard to say that we are going to challenge for the title, but I would like to think that next year we can get more than two podiums.”

After Red Bull has announced that the team has no plans or intentions of leaving F1, Ricciardo is just delighted to have his “job” secured for the next season amidst the continued delays in finding an engine supplier. He revealed that the team anticipates the supplier issue to be straightened out in time for the last race of the season at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Ricciardo is eighth behind Kvyat in the latest World Drivers’ Championship Standings with 84 and 94 points, respectively. Red Bull will finish the season fourth (currently with 178 points) behind Williams-Mercedes, Ferrari, and Mercedes.
