There isn't any doubt that Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises", the final installment for his Batman films, is the most anticipated movie for this year. But given much attention and preparation, does it deserve an Oscar?

Some people are saying that it is very likely that Christopher Nolan's "The Dark Knight Rises" will win it big for the award season. Although "The Dark Knight" has an award winning legacy, the top award which is the "Best Picture" has been too elusive for the superhero movie. But given that if things were different this year, here are five reasons why "The Dark Knight Rises" can potentially snag the Oscar "Best Picture."

Dissed in 2008

"The Dark Knight" was the second installment for Christopher Nolan's trilogy. It was undoubtedly one of the frontrunners for the 81st Academy Awards then, but unfortunately it wasn't even included in the "Best Picture" category. This snub was considered a big mistake of the Academy which is why they decided to expand the nominees from five to ten.

Christopher Nolan's last Batman film

It's Nolan's last installment of the Batman trilogy and probably his best one to date. Like Peter Jackson's last installment of "The Lord of the Rings" which won "Best Picture" in 2003, it's likely that the Batman franchise will be given the same send off.

Academy fans

The fan base for the fast-forward superhero film can't be missed. When the voting takes place, Anne Hathaway who plays as "Catwoman," will most likely be raising her paws for "The Dark Knight Rises."

"I'm not saying this as a cast member. I'm saying this as a member of the academy. So far, it's the best film I've seen all year," said Hathaway.

The movie is also overflowing with Academy voters who will most likely vote for their film. Morgan Freeman, Marion Cotillard, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman and Christian Bale are all part of the film and are all Academy voters.

Nolan deserves an Academy

He is part of the cream of the crop if we're talking about the best directors in Hollywood. "Inception" won six Oscars out of 21 nominations and "The Dark Knight" has eight nominations. He has also been nominated three times; unfortunately Nolan has never bagged the "Best Director" award.

Simply deserving

A point-black reason why "The Dark Knight Rises" can take home the "Best Picture" award is because it simply deserves it. The movie might not display some linguistic drama or a complicated plot. It's not set in some fantasy world or the olden days. But the modern crisp which is cleverly paired with social disputes and grim makes it one fine superhero movie that will surely be remembered for decades.
