David Beckham is close to being the owner of a Major League Soccer (MLS) expansion team in Miami, the Dailymail UK reported.

MLS has already declared their campaign to launch an expansion for the club, and their target location, South Florida. The football superstar remains in stern conversations with his benefactor, billionaire Marcelo Claure. Claure is the president, chairman and chief executive officer of Brightstar Corporation, the world's biggest wireless distributor.

In 2009, Claure already tried to instigate an MLS franchise but failed. This time around, he is eyeing on starting a partnership with Beckham. The two parties are constantly discussing the possible business deal but have not reached a final negotiation. The owner of National Football League's Miami Dolphins, Steve Ross, has expressed his interest to be part of the business deal.

When Beckham parted ways with MLS, he was given an opportunity to start a franchise. He was also given a discount amounting to $25 million. According to Miami Herald, Beckham is open for the opportunity, and he thinks that Miami would be a great place to bring MLS to. Since June, Beckham has been reportedly looking for prospective stadia in Miami, along with Claure. They have been to the Sun Life Stadium and FIU Stadium, according to reliable sources. Beckham will have to decide soon because the privilege opportunity is going to expire on December.

Even if Beckham has the money to financially support a professional soccer team, do you think he would be able to handle its day-to-day operation? Well, Beckham, his investors as well as his benefactors, can surely devise a creative plan to make the soccer franchise work. They are going to need a remarkable facility and they need to put together a great soccer team. We are pretty sure that it can be done, though. We will just to wait and see.
