David Beckham might be found on the competitive pitch again very soon after he has hinted his plans for a competitive return to football. The Former England International Star has recently unveiled plans to build a mega stadium for his newly established Major League Soccer expansion team in Miami. His plans to build the stadium have been hampered by various issues raised by environmentalists in the area who oppose the massive structure's reclamation of land in the Miami shoreline.

Beckham retired last year spending his last competitive stint with French champions Paris Saint Germain after making his mark in some of the biggest football clubs in the world. He was bred and developed in Manchester United before going on to play for European Champions Real Madrid and AC Milan. He then breathed life into American soccer through his time in L.A. Galaxy.

The BBC Documentary "David Beckham: Into the Unknown" hinted at a possible return to competitive football after he was quoted saying he has gone through the period of enjoying his rest and feeling the itch to play again.

"Now I go to watch a basketball game and when you are watching athletes play at the top of their game, for me it gives me that itch again. That itch wants to be back in the game again and I start thinking to myself 'Could I play again? Could I go back? Could I come out of retirement and start playing again?"' he said.

Being the owner of a new MLS franchise in Miami, Beckham might suit up for his club when the season opens in March 2015. Other MLS teams have signed European veterans, including New York FC's recent announcement of acquiring Chelsea Legend Frank Lampard and Spanish Striker David Villa. If Beckham does suit up, then he would be among familiar faces.

The documentary will be airing at 8.30 p.m. on BBC One next Monday evening and incidentally, not really about football but focuses on Beckham and a group of friends taking a motorcycle trip into the Amazon and immersing themselves in the lives of an indigenous tribe.
