David Beckham praises wife Victoria and 'true role model' Malala Yousafzai
David Beckham only had good words to say about Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai after their reunion on Sept. 26 at the Global Citizen Festival. He also praised his wife, Victoria Beckham, after her powerful speech at the UN headquarters on Sunday.
According to Hello Magazine, it was two years ago when David had a chance to meet Malala for the first time when he presented her with a Pride of Britain award. When they met again for the second time, David was really honoured and happy -- so much so that he took to his Instagram page to share his thoughts about their reunion.
David shared his photo with Malala along with the caption, "I was fortunate again to meet the incredible and inspirational Malala. A true role model to so many people." The photo shows the pair beaming for the camera, with David’s arm around Malala. His photo has since received over 531 likes as of this writing and over 4,000 comments.
Commentators also expressed their happiness seeing the pair together, some mostly expressing their love for Malala. One Instagram user named zuhaib_h_javed wrote, “Both are great personalities,” while another fan named kashishshake said, “THIS GIRL MAN she the best I love her.”
Time said Malala joined other powerful women, including U.S. First Lady Michelle Obama and singer Beyoncé at the Global Citizen Festival, to talk about women’s equality. Standing in front of 60,000 attendees, Malala voiced her commitment to fight gender inequality by 2030.
David also wasted no time in praising his wife’s speech at the Social Good Summit on his Instagram page. Sharing a photo of Victoria, he wrote, “Proud of my wife today speaking at the UN Head quarters ... Powerful speech along with some other incredible and powerful women on that stage ... Right to the point about Our fight against HIV/AIDS @unitednations @unicef @victoriabeckham.”
Victoria, a UN International Goodwill Ambassador, joined other influential personalities at the Social Good Summit 2015 on Sunday for a speech on HIV/AIDS. According to Hello Magazine, the fashion designer joined Jordan’s Queen Rania and other Hollywood stars to discuss how technology can be used for social good around the globe.
