David Beckham slams reports he is next James Bond
Daniel Craig has one more film left to play James Bond after “Spectre,” then his role will be offered to another action star. Tom Hardy and Hugh Jackman have both expressed their interest, while David Beckham has been rumoured for the role as well. However, Beckham recently denied his involvement in the film during a recent interview.
According to Hello Magazine, David slammed reports he has been asked to portray James Bond during a guest appearance on “Good Morning Britain.” The retired professional footballer said that he is “definitely not obviously up for doing something like that.”
"I was at the US Open and Sean Connery was two seats in front of me and I'm such a big fan of his, I was going to knock him on the shoulder and say 'apparently I'm up for the next role,’ but no I definitely have not been contacted,” he said.
Beckham also addressed reports that he will pursue an acting job now that he’s retired from football, saying that it’s not something that he’s looking into. However, he talked about having a lot of fun doing his acting stint in Guy Richie’s upcoming film “Knights of the Round Table: King Arthur.” David teased how much of his character fans will see in the film.
“It was 11 or 12 lines. I was like, 'this is going to be a real challenge' but it went really well on the day and I enjoyed it,” he said during his interview on “Good Morning Britain.”
Beckham also plays a Russian in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” where he appears opposite “Superman” star Henry Cavill. Talking about how the former England footballer grabbed the role, Cavill told The Telegraph that it happened after an impromptu phone call. David was called three days before filming his scenes and was asked if he would like to be in a movie, to which he reportedly immediately agreed.
However, it’s reported Beckham will get more acting exposure in Ritchie’s film. David recalled having a glass of wine with the director where he was told that he will get “a bit longer and a bit more challenging” role than in “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.”
