Retired soccer superstar David Beckham is reportedly trying to recruit Cristiano Ronaldo for his Major League Soccer (MLS) Miami squad in the next three years, according to The Sun as reported by The Mirror. Beckham is hoping to bring Ronaldo to the Sunshine State by 2017.

How can Beckham advertise his MLS team and get its name in front of the headlines? Certainly, Ronaldo is what Beckham needs to promote it, don't you think? This rumour couldn't be bigger than it actually is.

"Becks understands the need for a big, big name in the team when it gets going," said the source.

"And none come bigger than Ronaldo, the world's greatest player. Ronaldo loves America and all that offers."

"It's a long way off yet, we're talking 2017, but it clearly demonstrates the ambition of the Beckham franchise," the source added.

The year 2017 is a long way to go. By then, Ronaldo will be in his early 30s. Will Ronaldo be as popular as he is right now in three years' time? Will Ronaldo be as great in playing soccer as he is right now when 2017 comes? Ronaldo is the best player today, so there is no doubt that his abilities will remain in the next three years.

Beckham is motivated and truly thrilled to build his own team. According to BBC, Beckham's decision to buy an MLS franchise is part of a business deal he discussed when he joined the Los Angeles Galaxy in 2007, the MLS club that he played for in five years.

"I want to make this my own team," said Beckham.

"We're planning to bring a team that will be a global team," he added. Beckham said that he will be working hard to make the team successful.

"We will bring great players in."

"I have worked with some of the biggest clubs and greatest players and this is a dream."

"The fortunate thing about my career is players are already interested in coming to Miami," he added.

What do you think of Beckham's desire to sign Ronaldo? It is a smart move. If Beckham invest on great players like Ronaldo, then he will have more income. Ronaldo has a contract with Real Madrid that will run until 2018. Aside from Beckham, other teams will surely be up for a mad scramble to sign the world's greatest footballer.
