David Ortiz of the Boston Red Sox will produce a show for MTV, reported Associated Press. Ortiz, along with Andrew McCutchen of the Pittsburgh Pirates will be the executive producers of the said show.

It was officially announced on Monday that the Major League Baseball (MLB) and MTV Networks will team up together to create a weekly 30-episode series that will feature baseball and pop culture. It is expected to start airing around the beginning of the next season.

"Players want to be musicians and musicians want to be players," said Ortiz. "It is going to be easy to gather all my friends in baseball to have fun on MTV," Ortiz added.

According to the vice president of premiere baseball league, Tim Brosnan, MTV has expressed its interest to work with Ortiz after seeing a Fan Cave video showing him in his Red Sox uniform asking for hugs as he was strolling in the New York City streets.

"I am just sad, man," said Ortiz in the video. "You know, I mean, I don't know I am going to stop people booing me at Yankees stadium, man," he added.

Apparently, Ortiz got worn-out of all the "boos" that he gets from the Yankees' fans that he decided to befriend the city, one person at a time.

"I have an idea, I am going to go out and hug every New Yorker I see," he said.

"David has done so much than any other player for the Fan Cave," said Brosnan. "He and McCutchen will try to encourage other players to get involved, which should be easy, this is one of his biggest roles in the show," Brosnan added. "The main objective of the show, like the Fan Cave, is to promote MLB as well as its players to the younger generation," Brosnan concluded.
