'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes' Sequel: Koba Could Make A Comeback, Tony Kebell Hints About His Character's Resurrection
"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes'" sequel "Planet of the Apes 3,"may see return of Koba. Tony Kebell, who stood out in the role of Koba, recently hinted in an interview about his possible return to Matt Reeves' film.
Warning: Potential Spoilers Ahead
"I am hoping there is a way to resurrect Koba," says Kebbell to Hollywood Reporter, adding, "If not, I would love to come back to do performance capture on other characters." Koba started of as an ally to Caesar, but became disillusioned after witnessing the latter's attachment to the humans. He is an altered Bonobo and due to negligence has severe hatred for humans.
In "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" Caesar leaves him dangling from the ledge and tellS him that he is not an ape, so the law "ape not kill ape," does not apply to him. Koba falls into a large tunnel and Caesar mourns his death.
If Kebell's statement is anything to go by, then Reeves might revive Koba's character, as "Planet of the Apes 3" is speculated to feature a major war between humans and apes, and Koba could prove a major support for the apes, in the testing times. In regard to the impending war between human and apes, Andy Serkis, who plays Caesar, says that in the last film ape community underwent some internal issues, which has given rise to the possibilities of a potential war. In the sequel, Caesar would once again take the reigns in his hand and would lead his community in the darker time.
Meanwhile, Serkis who is being considered a major contender for this year's Academy Awards, has also clinched mystery roles in the upcoming "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" and "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The rumour has it he may play Black Panther in the "Avengers" sequel; however, nothing has been confirmed yet.
"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" is available to stream in HD today, and its Blu-ray/DVD would release on Dec. 2. The script of "Planet of the Apes 3" is currently being penned down and official title is yet to be announced. It is expected to come to theatres on July 29, 2016.
