'Days Of Our Lives' update: Kate Mansi speaks about her exit; Molly Burnett cast in 'Relationship Status'
Days after being reported that Kate Mansi will leave her well-loved role in the NBC daytime drama “Days of Our Lives,” the 27-year old actress resorted to social media to air her side.
Mansi, who has been playing Abigail Deveraux in “DOOL” for four years, revealed in her Instagram account the reason why she decided to leave the show. “After much thought, I’ve decided the timing was right for me to set sail from Salem,” she said.
The actress continued by saying that she has enjoyed giving life to the character of Abigail. “I want to be very clear in saying that this was not a decision I took lightly. It was important for me to see Abigail through the most recent storyline, as well as through the show's historic 50th anniversary celebration,” Mansi wrote.
Mansi will still be included in the “Days of Our Lives” cast until May, according to The Wrap. Her character, Abigail, recently reunited with Chad (Billy Flynn), after she learned that he is the real father of her son, Thomas. Chad recovered from being brainwashed by his brother to leave Abigail.
Fans of Mansi should not worry, as the actress hinted of new projects ahead. “Oh, and one more thing... STAY TUNED! I PROMISE you, you won't want to miss what's coming!” she posted.
There’s no news yet what will happen to Abigail but Flynn said good things await fans of the Chabby love team, according to Star Pulse. [Spoiler alert!] “DOOL” spoilers have hinted that there will be an engagement or even a wedding, after Chad and Abby work things out within their families.
While NBC also has been mum about plans on replacing Mansi for the role, We Love Soaps reported that the network has issued a casting call in November for a character named Val, who is described as a gorgeous, 25-year old Caucasian who is "passionate, intelligent and sensitive.” The site also commented that Val sounds a lot like Abigail.
As Mansi exits the show, a known character will make a comeback this month, according to Soaps She Knows. Molly Burnett is reported to return to the soap and reclaim her role as Melanie Jonas. It’s a busy year ahead for the Burnett, 27, who has also been recently cast in the upcoming series, "Relationship Status," which will premiere exclusively on Verizon's go90 app this spring.
Burnett, who will join the show’s cast which includes Shawn Ashmore, Ventimiglia and Brant Daugherty, expressed her excitement on Twitter.
Burnett will also star in 2016 films “The Wedding Party” and “Ctrl Alt Delete,” in addition to being back to “Days Of Our Lives,” which airs daily at 1 p.m. on NBC and 8 p.m. on POP.
