A prevailing typhoon killed 45 people as it lashed tornadoes across southern, central and eastern parts of the United States for three days now.

According to the NBC television network, the tornadoes evened out business and residential establishments in North Carolina. The same whirlwinds also caused power knock outs in the area.

In the southern states of Mississippi and Alabama, 12 tornadoes were reported at site on Friday after 15 twisters smacked Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. Hostile weather conditions battered Arkansas and Virginia on the same day.

This string of weather aggression began in Oklahoma on Thursday and traveled across several states on Friday and Saturday, leaving a track of casualties and devastations.

In Alabama, 7 people were killed including a mother and her two children whose trailer-home was thrown off the ground by a ravaging tornado which toppled trees and lifted vehicles from the road.

Raleigh, the capital city of North Carolina, was reported to suffer the most, with dozens of homes destroyed, several deaths, and power shortages are extensive.

Meteorologists at National Storm Prediction Center reported that the tempest voyaged early yesterday towards the Atlantic Ocean.
