‘Deadpool’ 2016: Ryan Reynolds talks about Deadpool’s sexuality, says the anti-hero will never save the world
“Deadpool” opens in Australian cinemas this week. There cannot be a better time for Ryan Reynolds to reveal some interesting information about the anti-hero “X-Men” character. Reynolds has expressed his desire to give Deadpool a male lover in future films.
According to The Huffington Post, Marvel’s fourth wall-breaking, fast-talking anti-hero Deadpool is pansexual, who flirts with both men and women.

“Pansexual! I want that quoted. Pansexual Deadpool,” said director Tim Miller.
Reynolds wants pretty much the same thing.
“I love that about Deadpool. I love that he can break any boundary. In the future, I hope we get to do that more. I certainly wouldn’t be the guy standing in the way of that. That would be great,” Reynolds told Variety at a New York screening of the film on Monday.
The same-sex storyline is definitely not that far-fetched considering Reynolds has already said earlier that there is a nude fight scene between Deadpool and Ajax (Ed Skrein) in a burning building.
Reynolds also spoke to Sky News about the difficulties he had to face making “Deadpool.” According to the actor, it is one of those “rare properties that comes along that studios don't want to make.”
In the comic book, Wade Wilson (Deadpool) becomes indestructible while undergoing a rogue experiment to cure his cancer. The dark and twisted character, which exists within the X-Men universe, was looked at as problematic by 20th Century Fox.
The movie doesn’t have a multimillion dollar budget and Reynolds and Miller “had to squeeze $10 out of every $1 they gave us.”
“We got to rely on character. Deadpool is never going to be the guy that's saving the world. Deadpool doesn't care about saving the world - he's a morally flexible anti-hero - so we had a lot of freedom and that felt really good,” Reynolds added.
