'Deadpool' Cast Update: Gina Carano To Play Angel Dust
American actress and former martial artist Gina Carano has been roped in to play the character of Angel Dust in the Marvel’s much-anticipated film “Deadpool.” The actress’ character, Angel Dust, is a mutant refugee, according to the comics. She is a part of the outsiders group known as the Morlocks. It not yet known what will be the storyline of Carano’s character in the film.
The Hollywood Reporter first confirmed the news of Carano joining the star cast of “Deadpool.” The actress was last seen in the films “Fast & Furious 6” and “In the Blood.” Her rep is yet to comment on the deal with the new Marvel film.
“Deadpool” features Ryan Reynolds in the lead role. The actor will play the character of Wade Winston Wilson/Deadpool. He will play a killer who is undergoing a treatment for cancer. He will be infused with superpowers due to some aberrations in the treatment. Deadpool is an antihero and a mercenary who appears in Marvel comics. He appeared as the villain in a comic book called “New Mutants.” He is famous for his talkative nature. Rob Liefeld has created the character. Deadpool was seen on the silver screen in the 2009 film “X-Men Origins: Wolverine.” Reynolds played the character in the film.
The shooting of “Deadpool” will reportedly start in March in Vancouver. Meanwhile, before Carano kick-starts her new Marvel project she will start shooting for another movie called “Extraction.” She has been cast opposite Bruce Willis in the film. The filming of “Extraction” will begin next week, reports Fightofhenight.
Carano has recently completed a heist thriller film called “Bus 657.” She plays a police officer in the film. It also stars Robert De Niro, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Kate Bosworth, Morris Chestnut, Dave Bautista, Stephen Cyrus Sepher and Tyson Sullivan. Scott Mann has directed the film and Lionsgate will distribute it. “Bus 657” will tell a story of a casino dealer who builds a crew to rob a bank. It has been shot in Mobile, Alabama.
