Former Disney starlet Demi Lovato is embracing the coming year with a positive message newly inked on her body.

Lovato, 19, showed off her brand new tattoo on Twitter on Wednesday night.

"Sometimes you just gotta have a little bit of......" the teen singer tweeted, clearly referencing a picture she posted of the word "faith" written on her forearm.

This is not the first time the "Camp Rock" actress has gotten a tattoo, and the rest of her body art are just as meaningful and inspiring.

As a younger teenager, Lovato succumbed to the pressures of Hollywood by cutting herself to deal with the pain. After checking into rehab and being treated for bulimia, anorexia and self-injury, the singer emerged a stronger, healthier person.

She got tattoos on top of her cutting scars to remind herself of her ordeal.

"I think scars are like battle wounds - beautiful, in a way. They show what you've been through and how strong you are for coming out of it," Lovato told Glamour Magazine in an interview.

"My tattoos say 'Stay Strong.' 'Stay' on one [wrist] and 'strong' on the other. Now I'm able to look at them and be thankful for being alive. I think that I've been blessed over the past year to be able to start over," she adds.

Other tattoos of the child star include a pair of lips on her left wrist, a green feather by her ear and the words 'you make me beautiful' on the right side of her torso.

It seems her parents are not quite used to body art as the rest of Lovato's fans though. Her father found out at just about the same time the rest of the world did, during a performance when the singer gave the camera a quick glimpse of the tattoo.

"Hahahaha... He found out when I performed tonight and I showed up on the jumbo trons," Lovato tweeted, answering a question from a follower.

Lovato is currently on tour for her latest album, and performed at the Q102 Jingle Ball 2011 concert in Philadelphia on Wednesday.
