Despite being in the spotlight following rehab, Demi Lovato opens up on her quick decision claiming it was a bad one at that. The "X-Factor" judge and rumored girlfriend of One Direction's Niall Horan open up on life after rehabilitation. Plus, Lovato talks about love - something her "Lovatics" would definitely learn from.

Former Disney starlet, Demi Lovato has undergone quite a lot. Back in 2010, the "Give Your Heart a Break" singer had entered rehabilitation for eating disorders, bulimia, and self-harm. Now, with a new life on the rise, Lovato is living the dream with her judging stint on "X-Factor." However, Demi reveals she took things quite a bit fast with deciding on the show.

"I don't think I was ready when I started on 'The X Factor.' In an ideal situation, I would have maybe waited a year or more [after coming out of treatment],' explained Lovato.

Apart from talking about the "X-Factor" life, Lovato went on to talk about being emotionally healthy following her rehab. Unlike the Demi before who had jumped from one relationship to the next, Lovato has learned to take things slow which would explain why the "Nemi" - Niall Horan and Demi Lovato - pairing hadn't become reality.

"I can finally trust and love and be a better person for the man I am in a relationship with, instead of being a clingy girlfriend or getting jealous," stated Lovato, adding, "It is very unhealthy when girls devote all of their time to a guy and forget their friends and family. I did that. I was always looking for distractions because I was so afraid of being alone."

"I have spent the last year focusing on myself and it's been incredible. More has come out of the past year than in my entire career so far, and I truly believe it was because I was taking care of myself and not focusing on guys," continued Lovato.

The full interview with Demi Lovato is set to appear in the Spring 2013 issue of Cosmo on Campus. It'll be available in universities across the UK by February 6. For one, former BFF, Selena Gomez and country crooner, Taylor Swift, could learn a lot from Lovato when it comes to the throes of love.
