Demi Lovato Pleads America To 'Go Easy' on Stars Like Miley Cyrus, Selena Gomez [VIDEO]
Either you hate Miley Cyrus or you simply love her. There is no middle way. American singer Demi Lovato has chosen the latter. The two singers are almost of the same age and started their careers with Disney channel as childhood stars. So Demi understands why Miley is trying hard to break her child-star image.
The 21-year-old Demi knows Miley since she was a teenager and understands Miely's strategy of shocking people by her antics. She does not blame the "Wrecking Ball" singer for anything but is of the opinion that Miley's beautiful voice has taken a back seat in the process.
"I think she knows what she's doing. A lot of artists take that route of shock value and that's totally fine and that's great, but I think that she has such an incredible voice that's overshadowed by some of the things that she's doing," Demi told Katie Couric on her talk show, which is airing Wednesday.
Lovato is all in favour of her childhood pal even though she herself a chosen a different path to success.
"You know it's her journey, she's having fun, she's being who she is and will always love her. She's been one of my friends since I was 14, but everyone's on their different journey's right now and she's doing that and having fun, so power to her!," Demi tells in the interview.
Demi, who has been out of rehabilitation, also understands how it feels like to grow up publically and how much pressure can it put on an individual. She is happy Miley has chosen twerking to rehab!
"I think that the world kind of needs to get over the fact that she was Hannah Montana when she was like 16 or whatever...Same thing with me, but I guess my transition was a little different because I went straight to rehab, but-I didn't twerk, I just went to rehab," Demi avers.
The "Really Don't Care" singer then goes on to make an honest request to her fans to go a "little easy" on all the child artists including Selena Gomez and Jonas Brothers, who have tasted success in their teens.
"It's something that is just-nobody knows her, and nobody knows who I am, and same with Selena Gomez and Jonas Brothers and everybody that's grown up in front of the public eye. We're adults now...I'm 21 and I'm nowhere near the same person that I was when I was 15...so go a little easy on us America," Demi pleaded.
And we are very much in agreement with Demi Lovato as all the child artists who have seen success really early (read Miley Cyrus, Britney Spears, Amanda Bynes, Justin Bieber and many more) do try hard to shed off their baby image. In an attempt to get a new grown-up image these artists however forget why they were loved by their fans in the first place and end up becoming someone who is completely different and rebellious.
We understand Miley needs to prove us she is no more a "Hannah Montana" and we get the point that she is an adult now. But, frankly, is the nudity, rehab and shock factor really needed every time? Any answers Demi (or Miley or Spears?)
