Demi Lovato Talks about Post-Rehab Life On Teen Vogue Magazine [PHOTOS]
Disney star Demi Lovato is on the cover of Teen Vogue magazine's November issue. The talented singer and current "X-Factor" judge opened up about her new life after leaving a treatment center in 2011. Demi Lovato particularly discussed her views on friendship by stating that she found out who was really there for her as she faced a dark time in her life.
"I'm consistently busy, but I make sure I spend a lot of time with my friends and family. I did kind of a friend cleanse right after rehab, where I weeded out people who didn't have my best interests at heart," Lovato told Teen Vogue.
According to MTV.com, Demi Lovato entered rehab in October 2010 as she dealt with her emotional and physical issues such as eating disorder, cutting and bipolar disorder. Now that she is out of rehab, Demi Lovato claimed that she sorted out her friends list to those who sincerely cared about her.
Most of her friends right now are not in the movie industry. "Now I have friends who love me for who I am and don't care about what I'm doing. Most of them aren't in the industry. Some of them don't even know my songs!" Lovato shared.
In addition to Demi Lovato's opening up about her personal struggles in Teen Vogue magazine, she also let the MTV cameras take a peek into her life for her post-treatment documentary "Stay Strong."
Meanwhile, Opposingviews.com reported that Demi Lovato stopped her gig at the Z Festival in Rio de Janeiro over the weekend when a Brazilian fan threw a Barbie doll onstage. For the 20-year-old singer, she strongly opposes to the unrealistic body image that the doll exudes.
"I spent my whole life trying to be this and trying to look like this. And guess what? I'm not this. I've been through so much in my 20 years of life. I know how you guys feel and I want to show you guys that you can get through it because I'm living proof right here," Lovato told the crowd. Then, the singer threw the Barbie doll back to the audience.
Demi Lovato is currently focused working on her next album as well as her duty as the "X-Factor" judge. Demi had slowly revived her career. The singer has released her album "Unbroken" last year with two hit singles "Skyscraper" and "Give Your Heart a Break."
