Demi Lovato thrilled about first Grammy Awards nomination after almost a decade in the industry
Demi Lovato first arrived in the public’s mainstream radar in 2008 when she starred in “Camp Rock” alongside the Jonas Brothers. And despite a successful musical career outside of Disney, it has taken almost a decade for the 24-year-old to get a Grammy Awards nomination.
Demi has, as Billboard reported, been focusing more on making her music better instead of getting a Grammy nod. And after five albums, her efforts are finally being recognized by what is arguably the most prestigious music awarding body. "Whenever you make an album you don’t think about the end result, you’re thinking about the process," she said.”And you’re putting everything into it, so to be nominated for an award for the album is just an incredible feeling and it’s really, really rewarding."
The musician also shared how she learned that “Confident” was nominated for best pop vocal album. She got a call very early in the morning and her assistant said her manager, Phil, wanted to speak with her. “Shut the f--- up!” she said upon learning the news.
She also discussed with the publication why getting a nomination for a Grammy Award -- especially one for best pop album -- was heartwarming. "What’s really cool about the Grammys is that your peers are people that you’ve looked up to your entire life -- people who’ve been nominated and won Grammys themselves," she explained. "So to be nominated by them, people you look up to your whole life, it’s an honor."
There is definitely some tough competition for the “Heart Attack” singer, as Demi’s “Confidence” album is up against Adele’s “25,” Justin Beiber’s “Purpose,” Sia’s “This Is Acting” and Ariana Grande’s “Dangerous Woman.” The Grammy Awards will kick off on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 8pm ET on CBS. Last year, Fox8 aired the awards night for Australian audiences, but this year’s network has yet to be finalised.
