The media speculations on the pregnancy of Denmark's Crown Princess Mary ended last Friday when the palace confirmed that indeed the 38-year-old princess is pregnant, with twins!

In a statement, the Danish royal household said the princess is due in January. She is expected to give birth at Rigshospitalet hospital in Copenhagen.

Princess Mary and Crown Prince Frederik have two children Christian, 4 and Isabella, 3. The twins will be fourth and fifth in the line of sucession after their father and two older siblings.

Frederik is son and heir to the throne of Queen Margrethe II. He married Hobart-born Mary in 2004 after they met during the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney.
