ABC’s new political thriller has had its fans at the edge of their seats since it first aired in 2016. While typically new, the series features veteran actors that have been adored from many different shows, including Kiefer Sutherland, Kal Penn, Maggie Q and a lot more. While things are running smoothly in terms of ratings and everyone’s gearing up for Season 2 in March, it has actually replaced its showrunner twice already.

Spoiler alert! This article contains “Designated Survivor” spoilers. Read on if you would like to know what happens before the next episode airs.

The show has never failed to deliver heightened tension episode after episode, so it was important for production team to offer something new to highlight the show’s sense of emergency. This was delivered effectively through the plotline of Agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q). After an assassination attempt against her fails, she proves to be one of the most ruthless characters on the show. As an FBI agent, Wells fights through tough situations to uncover what really lies beneath the operations, even if it meant discreting some people in the White House.

While fans have been guessing what the show would have to offer when it returns in March, there are some cryptic clues scattered around the “Designated Survivor” official Twitter account. Taken together, these might reveal something about what could come.

In one tweet, a clip of Tom Kirkman saying what sounds like “unfortunately, we live in a time of firsts” was posted with a caption that says “Brave new worlds require brave new heroes. Tom might not be one of the most loved people on the show, but fans have been keeping up with his development.

Another Tweet captioned “Throwback to when it all began” shows some old scenes from behind the camera, which were taken from the earlier parts of the season. As expected, fans responded by expressing how excited they are for the show’s return.

In another tweet, the page said “starting now!’ which probably trolled fans. However, excited viewers took this seriously and, again, responded with expressions of their excitement of the show’s return.

The first season ended with a bullet fired by a mysterious assassin during Vice President Peter MacLeish’s inauguration. Who ordered the hit and who took the bullet are two of the big questions that the next season will answer. So far, we know that Rob Morrow is joining the cast in a yet to be identified but recurring role.

Designated Survivor” will return on March 8, 2017 at 8 p.m. on ABC. It also airs on Netflix US and Netflix Australia.
