'Despicable Me 3': Second trailer reveals Gru's long-lost brother
First trailer for the upcoming “Despicable Me 3” movie highlights a new villain that Gru and his wife Lucy will be battling against. But another recent reveal showed that there is another new character who will be added to the movie, Gru’s long-lost twin brother, Dru.
Apart from the new villain Balthazar Bratt (“South Park’s” Trey Parker) debuting in the first trailer, another promising character per the second trailer is something to look forward to. This time around, he appears to be a long-lost loved one of Gru.
The second trailer showed that Gru (Steve Carell) is trying to fend off a mysterious yet persistent stranger out of his front lawn. The only reason that Gru stopped his mischievous attacks on the man is when he heard that he has a twin brother.
At the latter part of the trailer we see Gru travelling to a deserted island via his own personal jet ecstatic to meet his brother. The island houses a massively expensive-looking mansion where Gru finally meets his twin Dru for the first time.
According to the MovieWeb, this is just the first part of the Gru meets Dru trailer. The second video shows Dru asking for Gru’s help in doing a heist. The two of them team up and make one final go at being bad guys. The only problem is that the two of them are indeed opposite of each other. How talented and skilful Gru is as a villain is the exact opposite of how Dru is a blunder in everything he does in the mission. (Video can be seen at the end of article.)
The movie will also feature returning cast members as revealed by the TV Tropes website. Among them are Lucy Wilde who is voiced by “Ghostbusters” Kristen Wiig, Margo (Miranda Cosgrove), Edith (Dana Gaier) and Agnes (Nev Scharrel).
Gru’s army of minions will once again be voiced by “Brad and Gary’s" Pierre Coffin. Other returning members are Silas Ramsbottom ("The Trip’s" Steve Coogan) and Marlena Gru (Julie Andrews).
“Despicable Me 3” will be the third instalment of the same title following “Despicable Me" and “Despicable Me 2.” Overall, this will be the series’ fourth entry in the franchise with the movie “Minions” included.
The film will once again be made by Universal and Illumination Entertainment. The movie will once again centre on Gru, his wife, Lucy Wilde, and their three adopted girls. They will not only battle new villains but also meet with lost loved ones in the form of Dru. The movie is set to be shown in cinemas on June 15 in Australia and June 30 in the US.
