'Destiny 2' receipt suggests players can pre-order the game in Germany
A receipt from a video game retailer in Germany may suggest that Bungie fans can pre-order "Destiny 2" for the PC. The receipt also indicates a release date of Sept. 17, 2017.
Twitter user SenSnowy has showed a receipt from what appears to be the Hannover branch of GameStop. The receipt is for a pre-order version of the new "Destiny" sequel's Limited Edition for the PC.
The price tag reads also reads €110 (AU$156.50). The current Limited Edition of the original "Destiny" game costs US$119 (AU$156.13).
However, SenSnowy also showed the bottom part of his receipt. It shows that other games such as "FIFA 18," "Red Dead Redemption 2" and "Tekken 7" are already available for pre-orders.
According to Game Rant, the post code and contact information in the receipt matches the Hannover GameStop branch. Unfortunately, it should be noted that Activision, Bungie or GameStop have yet to release official details about the upcoming "Destiny" sequel.
This means until any of the three companies above make a confirmation, then the pre-order news should be taken with a grain of salt. Regardless, given that Activision confirmed a 2017 release for the "Destiny" sequel, then it is likely that offical news on the game will arrive in the next few months.
A cached version of the GameStop.de website also included pre-orders for the "Destiny" sequel. However, it has been taken down. Regardless, this cements speculations that news on the new game may be arriving soon.
"Destiny" was released on Sept. 9, 2014 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Bungie released Xbox One and PlayStation 4 ports of the game in 2016. Its latest update, "Age of Triumph," seems to be its final patch before the title transitions to the aforementioned sequel.
If the bottom part of the receipt, as seen in the tweet below, is legitimate, then "Destiny 2" appears to have a Sept. 17, 2017 release date. It is speculated to be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
The sequel will be a full reset, meaning players from all platforms will have to make their own characters. This also gives gamers the opportunity to check which platform suits their playing style best.
The game will also feature new classes and a story separate from the original "Destiny" title. Players speculate the new title may take place in Mars and tackle the story of the Taken King.
"The Taken King" is also the title of the the third "Destiny" expansion. The Taken King pertains to Oryx, the father of Crota. The latter is the primary antagonist of the game's first expansion, "The Dark Below." Oryx has created an army called the "Taken" in order to avenge his son.
