Halo changed the way gamers played shooter games. Now its predecessor, the famed Destiny by Bungie, seeks to change the playing field for the way shooter games are played.

The main point of the Destiny is to be one of the Guardians who will protect the world's final safe city. According to Xbox magazine, you will gain the powers from the original source, dubbed The Traveler, and will set out on a quest with fellow players in an effort to vanquish your enemies and regain peace in your world.

And you do all of these while arming yourself with weapons and upping your abilities as you go on your quest. For now, it seems like skating on thin ice, with no plot twist to engross your gamer, but the stunning visuals presented are nothing short of astounding.

Forbes reports that players are even given the ability to customize their characters and design them to be the fitting Earth Guardian that they are.

From what has been seen of Destiny, it is now slated to be as big as Halo, or even bigger, considering its tapping into the MMO territory. Sadly, this new technology is not set for release this year just yet.

"Activision has not included the launch in its 2013 outlook and there should be no speculation or expectation of a different result," said the publisher to Gamespot.

Activision is the publisher behind big names like Call of Duty and World or Warcraft, and has recently signed a 10-year contract with Bungie for the funding and distribution of Destiny, reports The Seattle Times.
