‘Destiny’ Free Upgrade And Day One Patch for PS4 Announced As Destiny Arena Gets On GameBattles
Fans who have preordered and preloaded "Destiny" are probably just waiting for the servers to go live to start playing. But here are some last-minute info that can help when playing the shooter game.
For starters, PS4 players may need to download more content in the form of the Day One Patch, and DualShockers reports that this will take up to 300 MB on Sony's next-gen console. The patch will reportedly boost the version to 1.02. Bungie has not yet released a change log for this patch, but it's best to download it while still waiting for the game to go live.
Free Upgrade to Next-Gen Consoles Revealed
Owners of both the PS4 and Ps3 or the Xbox One and Xbox 360 will be happy to know that they can opt for the digital upgrade for free. IGN reports that publisher Activision and developer Bungie have already confirmed the "Destiny" digital upgrade program. The upgrade will include the Guardian Edition and Expansion Pass, but consumers can only upgrade within the same platform family. Those who buy a copy of "Destiny" before Jan. 15, 2015 are the only ones qualified for the upgrade.
According to the official website of "Destiny," players who downloaded the free PS4/Xbox One version will still be able to play the PS3/Xbox 360 version; their Sony Entertainent Network Account on the PSN/Microsoft Account on Xbox Live will retain licenses for both consoles.
The digital upgrade program also functions as a cross-platform play, as Bungie also confirms that a player's Guardians, progress, stats and gear will all be shared and carried over to the next-gen version of the game. Of course, keep in mind that this is as long as it is kept within the same console family. Check out the official website for the details on how to redeem the token for the upgrade.
GameBattles Announces The 'Destiny' Arena
Major League Gaming has already added a new arena for "Destiny" on both Xbox and Sony platforms, according to The Destiny Blog. The new arena allows fans to gather their teams and sign up even if the game is yet to be officially released on Sept. 9.
The blog also mentioned that "Destiny" does not have private matches, but given the arena addition, it may be a good change of pace for the title. Check out the rules and guidelines for each of the four platforms for "Destiny" in the link above.
